About Skagit Academy
Our alternative learning program began in 2004 with 35 students in grades K-8. The program’s original mission was to create a common vision to support parents in schooling their children.
Several families worked collaboratively with the Mount Vernon School District to develop a program in which they could share quality curriculum, exchange educational strategies, offer enrichment classes, and provide opportunities to socialize, interact, and learn in a group setting.
Today, Skagit Academy continues to emphasize the partnership of parents, staff, and students working together to provide our students with a personalized, meaningful education. The program has evolved and grown to include 300+ students in grades K-12, offering a high school diploma.
